“The movie is being produced by Disney,” says Big Hero 6 star Hayley Atwell.
“I love it.
I’m a fan of the Marvel movies.”
The studio’s Big Hero team was originally set to direct the film but, when Disney dropped out, Atwell and her team were given a shot.
“Disney said, ‘Oh, you want to do it?'” says Atwell, who plays Princess Bubblegum.
“So I said, okay.
That’s the movie.
So I’m really excited.”
Atwell was previously a producer on Disney’s Marvel Studios movies, including Thor: Ragnarok, which she will star in with Mark Ruffalo and Amy Adams.
“Big Hero6” will also feature an animated sequel to the 2014 smash-hit Finding Dory, which is set to debut in 2019.
While the film was initially slated to be released on November 11, the release date was pushed back until December 4, 2017.
“It’s been a crazy few weeks,” says Atwill.
“My dad died a few days ago and I’ve been thinking, ‘I want to make a movie.’
So I’ve had a lot of time to think.”
Disney and Marvel announced their new partnership in June, but Atwell says it was already underway before Disney was ready to announce their partnership.
“This was supposed to happen before Christmas,” says Shere, adding that Disney was “really excited” about the project.
“They were really excited about it, and it’s so good.
I can’t wait to get started.”
