A virtual reality platform is an internet-based game that lets players play in a virtual environment.
The company is the first to offer this kind of service.
“There are so many great VR experiences that have been created that are all created on VR platforms,” CEO Michael Gervais said.
“We’re going to start with a very limited number of games, which we’ll probably keep a few.
We’re going try to make it very accessible for everyone.”
“It will make a big difference in the gaming world, as well as in the world of the internet,” he added.
The first game in the VR platform was created in February by Gervain, who co-founded the virtual reality startup TumbleVR in 2013.
In that game, players control a robotic arm, which can move and manipulate objects.
Gervains original pitch included a free VR version, but he didn’t make it into the final version of the game.
Now, with the help of an additional $5 million investment from Oculus, the company is releasing the Oculus Rift, which will allow players to control the robotic arm as well.
“If you’ve been waiting for a VR game to come along, now’s your chance,” Gervas told The Verge.
“I think this is going to be the next big thing in virtual reality.”
