A car-based Netflix streaming service is here.
The company, which is already available in Australia, will launch its first commercial service in the United States this week.
Netflix said the service will let users watch and record video on their vehicle with a smart TV in a way similar to how a video streaming service works in the home.
It’s available in select cities and cities across the United State, including New York City, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Boston.
Netflix said it plans to roll out the service in more cities in coming weeks.

Netflix says it has received a ton of interest from people looking to watch videos in their vehicles.
“Drivers and passengers alike are looking for a convenient way to record and watch their favorite movies and TV shows without having to leave their homes,” said John Chambers, Netflix’s chief content officer.
“[With the service] we are giving consumers a convenient and affordable way to enjoy their favorite content without sacrificing privacy.”
It also said it would expand its product offerings to include movies and video on demand, including on-demand streaming video and home theater.
